To formulate new policies, plan and strategies towards more active promotion and development of the timber industry and the marketing of high quality timber-based products suitable for both overseas and domestic markets.

To develop economical and beneficial harvesting and utilization of the forest resources of Sarawak.

To create new concepts and strategies in the timber industry so as to ensure that benefits from the harvesting of the state's forest resources will be fairly and equitably shared among the people of the state and the Nation.

To enable the State Government to have an instrument for the formulation, co-ordination and implementation of the overall timber industry development strategies and to act as a catalyst with private sector interest through the encouragement of new industry.
