This programme kicked-off in 1996. The first project under the programme was the supply of furniture to Sekolah Menengah Agama, Kuching, a secondary school. The programme is jointly organised by the State Government's Entrepreneur Development Unit, State Financial Secretary's Office, Public Works Department and Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation.
 





Purpose
 
The programme was organised to achieve the following:

Increase and encourage the participation of Bumiputera in wood based industries; and
Create a Bumiputera commercial and industrial community by year 2020.


Objective
 
To identify and fulfil demand in core markets;

Increase the range of manufactured products;

Upgrade knowledge and technical skills; and

Improve the quality of products.


STIDC's Role
 
To identify and appoint potential vendors;

Offer supply contracts to vendors; Monitor the "on-time" delivery of furniture to clients;

Ensure product quality is maintained;

Arrange payment to vendors;

Provide advisory and technical expertise to vendors; and

Provide special credit facilities for the purchase of raw materials.


Criteria
 
Registered with the registrar of Companies;

Activities registered with STIDC;

Equity be 100% Bumiputera-owned;

Been in operation for more than one year;

Be categorised within the small and medium scale industry;

Have relevant machinery to carry out job;

Be committed to current projects; and

Be financially stable.
