In accordance with the provision of "THE SARAWAK TIMBER INDUSTRY (REGISTRATION REGULATIONS) 1999 any person engaged in or associated with the manufacture, sale and distribution or marketing of timber in Sarawak must registered with STIDC.

Offence

Any person who contravenes the provisions of THE SARAWAK TIMBER INDUSTRY (REGISTRATION) REGULATIONS, 1999 shall be guilty of an offence. Penalty: not exceeding 6 months imprisonment and a fine not exceeding Two Thousand Malaysian Ringgit.

Application To Register With STIDC

Application for registration with STIDC must be made using New Application Form (Form A - Click here for download - PDF format) (Form B - Application for renewal of registration - PDF format) or obtained free of charge from the STIDC Headquarters and STIDC Divisional Offices.

1) Basic documentation are as follows:

a) Private and Public Companies
- Form 9
- Form 24
- Form 49
- Memorandum of Articles and Association
- Trade Licence

b) Sole Proprietorship and Partnership
- Certificate of Registration of Business
- Trade Licence
- Extract of Registration of Business Names

2) Supporting documents are as follows:

a) Manufacturer
- Approval letter for Manufacturing Licence from the Ministry of Industrial Development
- Manufacturing Licence from MITI
- Sawmill Licence from the Forest Department
- Veneer mill Licence from the Forest Department
- Plywood mill Licence from the Forest Department
- Belian Sawmill Licence from the Forest Department
- Permit to manufacture gaharu from the Forest Department
- STA membership

b) Exporter
- Timber Licence for export of logs from licenced area
- Logging contract or agreement to extract timber from licenced area
- Sales and Purchase agreement if the exporter is not a sawmiller
- Permit to export gaharu from the forest department
- STA membership

c) Importer
- Permit to import gaharu from the Forest Department

d) Local Sales Operator
- Timber Licence
- Sales and purchase agreement of logs
- Log Suppliers’ letter
- Logging contract or agreement to extract from licenced area
- Permit to extract gaharu from the Forest Department
